Working together to answer the questions:
- Where is the income statement most effected by business operations? Are there advancements in technology and labor practices that can positively impact the income statement?
- How many days/weeks of cash does the company have on hand? What is the aging of the accounts receivables? Are operational issues impeding the ability to collect cash?
- What access does the business have to incremental cash? Can/should that cash be deployed in a way that is accretive to the business or will it be used to “just hang in there?

Many years ago, a very successful entrepreneur told me that every good company has a COO and CFO that constantly disagree, and the CEO’s job was to negotiate between them to balance growth against risk management for optimal success. I can help small businesses create synergies between these two sides of the “house”, especially when complicated by employees wearing multiple hats.
